George Town Heritage Walk: Street Art, Clan Houses & Char Koay Teow
18 July 2026 · Mana Mana Team

A self-guided walking route through the UNESCO World Heritage core — from Armenian Street murals to the clan jetties, with every essential food stop marked.
The Route: 4km, Half a Day, Zero Regrets
Start at Fort Cornwallis, loop down Beach Street's colonial banking row, cut into the Armenian Street enclave for the famous 'Kids on Bicycle' mural, then finish at the Chew Jetty over the water. Go before 10am — Penang heat is not a negotiation.
Clan Houses Worth the Ticket
Khoo Kongsi is the showpiece — a carved granite and gold-leaf clan temple hidden in a courtyard. Pinang Peranakan Mansion runs it close for interiors. Both under RM25.
The Food Checkpoints
Char koay teow at Siam Road (queue is part of the experience), asam laksa at Air Itam market, cendol on Penang Road. Base yourself on Macalister Road and everything is a 10-minute Grab away.
